In January I worked with a group of kids from the A.L.B.A. School (Alternative Learning for Behavior and Attitude) at an organization called ARTS that helps kids deal with difficult times through art and music. They came in for a few sessions and I basically was given a room full of kids to work with for a few hours.
We decided to write a blues song and I let the kids take over and write about whatever they wanted. We came up with the "ALBA Lunch Blues" inspired by the boxed lunches the kids get that aren’t very good. Anyway, I recorded the song on my mac and gave them a copy of it to take with them.
It started spreading around the school and apparently the administration got a hold of it. They listened to the words and now the kids get money for their lunch instead of the crappy boxed lunches! Who says Rock N Roll can’t change the world?
